Biography of Michel Phelps

Michel Phelps is the most celebrated Olympian of all time. He is also world’s record holder in swimming in Olympics Games.



He was born on June 30, 1985 in Baltimore, Maryland. Phelps is the youngest of his three brothers and sisters. He began swimming when his two older sisters Whitney (born in 1978) and Hilary (born in 1980) joined a local swim team. Whitney tried out for the US Olympic team in 1996, at the age of 15, but injuries derailed his career. But Phelps went on to fulfill the dream of his sister by himself, Michael Phelps completed in his first Olympics at the age of 15 as part of US men’s swim team. At the age of 15, he became the youngest American swimmer at an Olympic Games in 68 years.

Phelps started showing his outstanding Olympic performance from Athens Olympic in 2004. He had dominated the Beijing Olympics 2008 and created a new Olympic record. Phelps commented his legacy in London Olympic Games, 2012 also. London was Phelps grand finale. He won four gold and two silvers in seven events and he said that he’d never race again. That means he had announced his retirement.
